Jabra has released an update to the Elite 75t model, just as it did with its previous-generation true wireless headphones. This model received a CNET Editors Choice award for its excellence. The “active lifestyle edition” is $200 (US$190; $AU329), which is $20 more than the standard model. It also has some design upgrades and comes at a slightly higher price ($200; US$AU329). Is it worth spending the extra money? For most people, the short answer is no. The Elite Active 75t is a better choice if you are looking for a running or other sports headphones.
The Elite Active 75t and Elite Active 75t look almost identical at first glance. However, closer inspection will reveal a slight difference in the finish of the case and earbuds. The Active 75t has a soft, to-the-touch, smoother finish than the Elite Active 75t. It also has a little more grip. Or, as Jabra put it, it’s “built with a durable coating for dust and sweat resistance and features an increased IP water-resistance rating from IP56 (of the Elite Active 75t) to IP57, making them waterproof.”
The standard Elite 75t fit perfectly in my ears and I was able to run with them. The Active 75t’s grippier finish is supposed help them hold in your ears better when you sweat. Although I prefer the Elite Active 75t’s finish, I don’t think it’s worth the extra $20. You’ll notice that I use words such as “slightly”, “a touch”, and “a little” to describe subtle differences between these models. They are really subtle.
Both models share the same features and sound identical. I have a review of the Elite 75t that covers these features more in depth. However, the short version of the Elite Active 75t’s design is that it fits more ears than the Elite Active 65t and allows for tighter seals with the included eartips. The earphones provide good passive noise isolation, which reduces ambient noise, but not active noise cancellation. The sound quality is excellent if you get a tight seal. It has good details and a well-defined bass with some power. Although it may not sound as open or refined as the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 and the Sony WF1000XM3, it is very good for wireless earbuds.

The equally rugged Jaybird Vista costs a little less (it’s down to around $160) and really locks into your ears, thanks to its sports fins. The Jaybird is a great choice and I highly recommend it. However, the Jabra has two microphones in each earbud. One for noise reduction and one for calling. Sidetone allows you to hear your voice through the buds and allow you to modify your voice. This feature I really like.
There are two other features that merit mention. You can activate HearThrough transparent mode to allow ambient sound. To activate it, press the left earbud. Sound Plus for Android and iOS allows you to choose to have your music pause whenever you activate HearThrough. If someone approaches you to have a conversation, they can tap the left-earbud to start a conversation. You can also use it as a safety feature to allow runners to hear traffic around you. However, HearThrough must be turned off so that traffic is heard.
The app has EQ settings that allow you to tweak the sound to your liking and you can choose between your device’s native voice assistant or Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant. To access the voice assistant, you must press a button (these buds do not have physical buttons). The AirPods Pro allows you to simply say “Hey Siri” to access Siri hands-free.
These buds have volume controls, unlike the AirPods Pro. To lower the volume, press and hold on the left earbud button. For a higher volume, press and hold on the right earbud button. It works great.
Jabra released the Active 75t with two new software features: Jabra MyControls which allows you to use one earbud and Jabra MySound which allows you create a sound profile based upon your hearing. Battery life is rated at 7.5% at moderate volume levels, up from 5 hours for the Elite Active 65t. The AirPods Pro are rated to 4.5 hours with noise cancellation on. The charging case does not support wireless charging. It only supports USB-C charging (with the included cable). You get an additional 20.5 hours battery life.
There is little to be unhappy about, except for the absence of active noise cancellation and wireless charging. This is a great true-wireless headset that I recommend, just like the Elite 75t. It’s not clear if it’s worth the $20 extra over the standard model, but you can never go wrong with a little more ruggedness.

The Elite Active 75t has the same appealing aesthetics and silhouettes as the Elite 75t, but is 22% smaller that the Elite Active 65t. The IP rating of IP57 is the most important design element. These buds were designed by Jabra to be waterproof and dust- and sweat-resistant.
