However, it is Sony’s answer to top full-frame models such as Nikon, Pentax, and Canon. It is therefore priced at PS3000. For all the details, read on.
Due to the lack of a traditional DSLR mirror-and-pentaprism setup for bouncing light through the lens to an optical viewfinder, the A99 II (like all Sony’s SLT cameras) is more compact than an equivalent DSLR. The majority of DSLRs have a large bulge for the viewfinder. However, the A99 II only needs a bump to house the OLED viewfinder.
It’s not mirrorless CSC-style, but it’s a high-end interchangeable lenses camera with full-frame sensors. The dimensions are impressively small, being 8% smaller than the A99. It is lightweight too, weighing in at just under 1 kilos without a lens attached. This makes it easy to transport for long periods of time.
The body, like most high-end DSLRs is made from magnesium alloy for strength. All controls, dials and ports are weather-sealed for protection in wet or dry environments. The body is secured by a large grip on its right side and a rubbery material wrapping around the majority of it, regardless of the weather conditions.

There are many features on the A99 II that I cannot list here but some stand out. For example, the five-axis image stability works in-body and does not require lenses to have optical imaging stabilisation. Any A-mount lens that you attach to the camera will benefit from IS, even the classic Minolta lenses of the 1980s.
This hybrid autofocus is amazing, as all 79 phase-detection points of the AF work as hybrid points. This means that the continuous autofocus is responsive and can track motion precisely – perfect for photographing tricky or unpredictable subjects.
Eye AF mode can recognize and keep focus on the eyes of your subject. This is useful when shooting portraits in a narrow depth-of-field. A movement of just a few millimetres from your subject could result in blurred eyes while their tip is sharp. AF is also great in dark conditions.
A quick note about the OLED Viewfinder. In the past, electronic viewfinders were considered inferior to optical viewfinders. But, that perception has changed dramatically over the last few years, largely due to Sony’s efforts. The viewfinder is large and crisp, almost identical to an optical one, and can also preview and review video clips.
The A99 II is a great tool for videographers and photographers. It has a high-data 4K mode (upto 100Mbps in XAVC S format), and professional workflow features like the ability to export uncompressed footage via HDMI to an external recorder.
The video quality is great in-camera, but I am no Tarantino budding. I was able to capture some beautiful-looking footage by simply pointing, focusing, and pressing the record button. The footage has natural-looking colours, although a bit muted at times. It also shows strong dynamic range and clear detail. The five-axis IS is great for handheld video, as it negates some of the effects of the wielder being less steady. The 46.4MP sensor works well for stills. The A99 II doesn’t have a low-pass filter. This increases the resolution of the sensor.
These JPEG photos speak for themselves. However, if you are unsure about the onboard processor’s ability to deliver the goods or simply want to be more controllable, you can always shoot uncompressed 14 bit RAW and then manually process the images using your favorite PC photo editor. This camera’s RAW files are approximately 85MB.
Low-light photography is excellent here, as you would expect from a full frame camera with an ISO maximum of 102,400. It’s not a master camera to the extent that I would call it.Sony A7S IIYou can take great images in dimly lit pubs with a fast lens attached. The A99 II’s price tag and DSLR-like build make it not for everyone. Sony’s E-mount cameras, which include the A7, A7S, and A7R, are smaller, lighter, and more convenient than full-frame cameras. If you already have a Nikon or Canon system, it’s probably a better idea to go with their full-frame models. This will allow you to use your existing lenses.
The A99 II, whether you’re looking to buy a new system or are already using Amount glass, is a powerful flagship that can Sony A99ii Black Friday Deals 2022 handle any type of video or photography task. It’s likely the only camera you will ever need, considering its price.
