The E390 Series was officially announced in February and should be available for purchase in most countries. The E390 and E380 have little in common. Both feature a micro USB port but lack a WM connector, each screen measures 4.5 cm with 128×160 resolution, and both support identical file formats. The E-Series is compact at 3.2 inches high, 1.7 inches wide, and 0.3 inches deep. It’s easy to carry around on your arm or waistband at work. You can choose from black, red, pink or blue (only 4GB). The E-Series menus are typical for the most recent Walkman models. A grid of icons indicates the main functions of the player on the main menu. Unfortunately, you cannot change the wallpaper or theme of this Walkman. You get a white font on black background. The music submenu allows you to sort items by ID3 tag into playlists and artists.
You can also navigate by folders (as your desktop is organized). For speedy navigation, tracks are divided into sections of letters (A–B, C–E and so on). You can also browse albums by album artwork for a more visual experience. You can magnify album art on the playback screen but not to the full screen. It is easy to get music and other content onto your player. You can either use a variety of jukeboxes, such as Windows Media Player or Rhapsody, or the lightweight Sony Content Transfer app that allows drag and drop from your iTunes interface or your hard drive. It has a memory limit of GB and does not allow for memory expansion. It doesn’t support integrated podcasts and syncs subscription-content slow.
